Androgynous pop chameleon David Bowie hit an all-time high with his ‘lacy clown’ look in the early 80s. New Romantics and music fans flocked to copy the new trendy style.

Ever since the song ‘Ashes to Ashes’ took on a tragic topicality, lacy nighties and clown hats have once again become mega cool. The eiderdowns, headboards and lampshades, commemorative plates, pot pourri and silver ‘listening shoes’ are as popular as ever at 3 for 1.

Yet David’s impressive range of signature goods never did extend to the bedside cabinet.
